I’ve noticed that after a day or two of being in a new city, you form new habits. You crave that same salad place you stumbled upon and now go to everyday at noon.
You wake up at the same time, put on the same jacket, and walk to the same coffee shop, because you know it will be open and you know they have just what you want to drink.
You walk down the same streets you’ve walked down before because they breathe familiarity and you want to walk like you know where you’re going and you know what you’re doing, even though you’re more lost than you’ll ever truly admit.
We are all creatures of habit, of comfort, of certainty, no matter how far we move away from our old lives, our old zip codes, and of course, our old and broken ways.
