The Third Week Of June

Personal advice

June 19, 2014

Happy Friday, My Friends!

I took the day off today and flew to Florida to see my family and celebrate my uncle’s birthday. When I was thinking about planning this trip a few weeks ago, I wasn’t sure if it was “worth it” monetarily to take off work and book a flight home for just 48 hours.  But one thing i’ve learned, only very recently, is if you’re going to spend money (and we all do – no matter how much we try and save) we should spend money on adventures over things. Because adventures foster memories and lessen our chances of regret.

We’re already in the 3rd week of June  and the 90 degree temperatures are starting to come out and play and my hair has morphed into a giant sweaty frizz ball. To help cool down this week – here are 7 things you should check out:

1. Remember 4th grade grammar?

Sometimes I don’t. Back then my head and my heart was wrapped around the boy sitting two seats in front of me and trying to predict what the cafeteria was serving for lunch. To brush up on my grammar skills, i just checked this book out from the NY library.

2. Regrets are the worst

Here are 10 that you can try to avoid.

3. What happens when you stop washing your face for a week?

Or, instead of washing it with your usual face soap – you wash it with…food?

4.  I’m all about doing home workouts these days..

Especially because the gym smells and it’s too crowded and sometimes people stare at me like “what the heck is she doing”…which is valid. If you grab a yoga mat and you roll it on on your floor in your room, you’ll be able to create your own mini-workout space – where you can do abs, push ups, squats and my new favorite —planks.

5.  OK Go is back with a new awesome video…

This one was shot in just one shot and is pleasant on the eyes.

6.  We’ve replaced using our words with using emoticons when we’re texting

And soon, i hope, these rumors will be true and more than 200 new ones will be added to our “vocab”

7. Remember to have the courage, always, to try again.
