May has almost slipped out of our fingers and left us with sweat rolling off of our foreheads as we casually step our way into June. Here’s 7 of my favorite things from this week!
They say never judge a book by its cover – but it’s hard not to. Especially when a cover pops out at your while you’re thumbing through stacks of overused books at the library. It’s a story about a girl and her mom – who is totally turned off and terrified of this modern day society and the actions of the people she’s surrounded by. At least that’s what i know so far. I made myself pause at page 50 and stuff the book at the bottom of my suitcase so i could read it on my plane ride this weekend.
My favorite quote so far is posted right underneath this.
― Maria Semple
If we can learn to entertain ourselves and more importantly to embrace down time as a time to relax and reset – we’ll be a whole lot happier.
Or at least the one i go to does – especially around 6pm. I had to plug my nose with a paper towel the other night just so i could do squats. I’ve been trying to go different (easy) workout moves whenever i have a free moment around my apartment. Lunges while i brush my teeth – lift 5 pound weights while i wait for my laundry – jumping jacks during commercials. It’s a fun way to get moving and it doesn’t require you to leave your home or apartment.
Are some of the new words that will be added into the dictionary this year.
There’s now an “ASK” button – which lets you pester people into telling you their relationship status. Whatever happened to picking up the phone or chatting with a person over coffee to find out these things?
7. I read Humans of New York every day…
It reminds us that every single person is struggling with something – yet we, the people who pass them by, who work beside them, who shake their hands – have no idea at all. It breaks my heart, sometimes.
