The Second Week Of May

Life stories

May 16, 2014

1. The gym is intimidating…

I’ve only been finding myself going to it this week because it’s been raining outside. I tried to figure out how to use some of the weight contraptions and i felt like i was playing a game of stand-up Twister with a large metal machine. I found a real beginners guide to gym equipment that might help those of you who hardly go to the gym – and when you do, find yourself having staring contests with these machines.

2. Reader question of the week:

I want to travel more – but i don’t know where to go! Reply in the comment section below – or send me a tweet – with the one destination you desperately want to travel to.

3. Poem of the week is about who NYC really belongs to…

4. HAIM (The Band)

I went to see them live last weekend and it was the best concert i’ve seen in a while. These girls can really ROCK. Check out their full concert on YouTube.

5. Edible Instagram pictures?

Meet Boomf: a company that takes your Instagram pictures and puts them on marshmallows! It’s a real thing because i ordered a box of them for someone special. Except when i ordered them, i put the wrong address – so the company mailed 9 Instagram pictures on marshmallows to one very lucky – and confused – stranger in this world. When i admitted my mistake – they said no problem and shipped a brand new box (at no cost) to the right person. That’s customer service anyone can appreciate.

6. “Get in, get out. Don’t linger. Go on.”

― Raymond Carver

7. I have the entire NY Public Library in my apartment…

That’s a little bit of an exaggeration – but i have 22 checked out books and they have covered every inch of my tiny bedroom. I’m currently reading ‘Love in the Time of Cholera‘.

Ps.  My book ‘All My Friends are Engaged‘ is becoming an Audio Book very soon! I had the chance to chat on the phone with the lady who will be narrating it and it was really strange – yet at the same time kind of cool to hear her perspective on the stories.
